The Seven Chakras
Chakra Basics
What are Chakras?
Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means wheel or vortex. Chakras are energy centers within the body. The body has 7 chakras which start at the base of the spine and finish at the top of the head. Each chakra is connected to our body systems and corresponding organs. Each chakra is stimulated by its own complimentary color. The chakra colors are the colors of the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each chakra rotates or vibrates at different speeds.
Why are Chakras Important?
Anything that is living or alive has life force energy. If the chakras aren’t balanced, or the energies are blocked, the body’s life force energy is slowed down. Imbalances that exist within the chakra system can have profound effects upon our physical and emotional bodies. Blocked chakras can affect the mind and thought processes creating a negative attitude, fear, or doubtfulness. An individual might also feel emotionless, tired, or depressed. As a result of the chakras being connected to our body systems, physical bodily functions can be affected creating an environment for diseases to manifest.

What does Reiki have to do with the Chakras?
Reiki works on all the chakras of the body to rebalance, restore, and even out the flow of energy in the body. A constant balance between the chakras promotes health and a sense of well being. Once the chakras are properly balanced the body will gradually return to normal.
